August 08-10  (Wed-Thurs-Fri)   -   ARRIVAL ORIENTATIONS  Arrive from the airport.  Students get oriented. 

August 19 (Sunday), 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. SWIMMING PARTY for Liaisons, Host Families, and AFS Students & AFS Teachers.  Bellaire, TX.  Central Houston Area Team (CHAT) only.  Click here for map/directions.
August 27 (Mon):  School Starts (most schools)

Sept 3 (Mon.): HISD school holiday
Sept. 8 (Sat.) - Post Arrival Orientation (Mandatory) This meeting is for Fort Bend, West Side and Private School.  See Sept 22 for CHAT Post Arrival Orientation.  If you are in CHAT but cannot attend on Sept. 22, you are welcome to attend the Sept. 8 meeting, but you need the permission of the Chapter Chairs.  It is noted that North Houston has not been finalized, as well as Fort Bend...please review this web site about Sept. 4 for final information.
Sept. 22 (Sat.) - Post Arrival Orientation for CHAT (Central Houston Area Team).  Details later.
Oct. 13-14 (Sat/Sun) - 2007 Katy Rice Harvest Festival.  Entertainment Schedule Ticket Information.  AFS will have a booth at the festival.  Want to volunteer?  Contact Mary Perrin.
Oct. 27 (Sat.) - Fall Picnic for all AFS Houston ChaptersPecan Park in New Territory Subdivision in Sugar Land (and optional Texian Market Days at George Ranch).  11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Bring food to share, folding chairs. 

HALLOWEEN PARTY Oct. 27, 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 at Debra Tholen's, 2158 Chilton Rd, 77019.  Costumes mandatory!

Nov. 29 + 30 Isaline from Switzerland is performing in the Fall Dance Concert at HSPVA at 7:30 pm. She has tickets for presale at $7.00/ticket.

Dec. 1-15  Houston Family Arts Center "Christmas Pageant" http://www.houstonfac.com/page4.html

Dec. 6, 7:30 pm - Camilo (Chile) will be tooting his trumpet in HSPVA's Winter Concert.  The band will perform a selection of Christmas songs at The Church of St. John the Divine (across the street from Lamar High School).  Camilo is also selling tickets.

Dec. 8 - Camilo and Matheus (Brazil) will be jammin' on a porch at "Lights in the Heights" as members of the "Babalu and the Bossa Nova Jazzmen" band.  Please look for them as we do not know the house number yet. Laura Lee, Camilo's Mom and Matheus' Liaison
Dec 8  - Lights in the Heights - all chapters.  AFSers meet at the Aiken/Sicignanos' house, 516 Woodland, Houston, TX 77009 at 7:30 pm for an Open House. The Aikens/Sicignanos are asking everyone to bring a snack to share.  Students can then walk through the neighborhood. There are lots of lights and decorations for Christmas and music groups playing music on porches.
Dec 11- Fundraiser at Ten Thousand Villages international shop for all chapters. This shop, located in the Village, features items from all over the world. One day a year, the shop is open in the evening for AFS. A certain percentage of the sales that evening goes to AFS for scholarships and other costs (the store keeps the rest.) The store will be open on December 11 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm http://www.villageshouston.org/
Dec. 15 - 7:30 United Nations Choir.  Songs from many nations.
Jan. 26-27 - AFSer Mid-Year Orientation - CHAT chapter - still being planned. Please save the date.
